The Asian American Student Union (AASU) was founded in 1997 in Florida State University by co-founders Rich Sealy and Faye Hunt in hopes of representing the large and growing Asian and Asian American population found within the campus. AASU eventually grew to become one of several agencies to be affiliated with the university's Student Government Association.

As the organization grew, it began to serve as an umbrella for several affiliate Recognized Student Organizations such as:

The Chinese Language and Culture Association (CLCA),
The Filipino Student Association (FSA),
The Indian Student Association (ISA),
The Japanese Student Association (JSA),
The Korean Undergraduate Student Association (KUSA),
The Vietnamese Student Association (ViSA),
alpha Kappa Delta Phi International Sorority, Inc. (aKDPhi),
Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity, Inc. (Sig Rho),
Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority, Inc. (Sig Sig Rho).

We also work alongside our on-campus and community-based partners:

The Asian Coalition of Tallahassee (ACT),
The Center for Multicultural Affairs (CMA),
The Center for Global Engagement (GME),
The Student Government Association of FSU (SGA),

and continues to work alongside with many new and upcoming organizations. Expanding its membership into the hundreds and gaining the attention of numerous colleges and universities throughout the southeast region, AASU has gone through tremendous transformations.
